STAMFORD-A new Pitney Bowes White Paper lists ways companies can support "Sandwich Generation" employees who are primary caregivers for older and younger family members, asserting that such assistance is beneficial to businesses as well.
About 20 million Americans fall into this category, states the document, which notes, "More organizations are realizing that providing resources and support to care givers within the workplace can bring numerous benefits not only to employees, but also to the productivity of their organization."
According to the study, ways companies can help employee-caregivers include mutually beneficial flextime; establishing discussion or support groups; and providing information through webinars and seminars.
